FOSTER DOGS
FLD reserves some of our kennel space for dogs that are in need of a foster home. FLD fosters dogs from a variety of local rescue organizations. FLD kennel life is nothing like being in a home. For that reason, FLD looks at itself as more of a halfway house for its foster dogs. All dogs that FLD is fostering would benefit from a foster home OR an adoptive home.
*FLD is not a non profit organization. If you would like to donate to the care of FLD's foster dogs, please donate the to the rescue that they belong to. Do not directly donate to FLD. I will include a direct link to their rescue in their webpage.*
The gallery below shows all the current FLD foster dogs. If you would like to learn more about them, click on their picture and you will be transported to their own webpage where you can learn even more about them.

Mary Jane is a wonderful dog's dog. She relaxes well in home but can also light up and entertain her family in the backyard playing fetch or tugging a rope swing. She enjoys going on walks with humans and does great off leash in rural hiking areas. She loves to meet new people and becomes so soft and docile when she meets them. She is gentle with little kids! She would make a great companion to children. MJ has dog friends! She seems to only like the boys though. Cats are chew toys for her, so no cats should live in her adoptive home. MJ is athletic enough for a person to try her in dog sports. She would make a great competition dog. BUT she is also good at turning that off and sleeping in on the couch with you.

Meredith is a pint sized mini malinois! She was dumped at a shelter after they feel like she was used to breed "Mini Mals". She did not have the best start in life and can be tentative when she first meets people. She shies away at first. It doesn't take long for Mer to warm up to new people. She loves to eat and loves other dogs. The presence of those things with new folks really helps her come out of her turtle shell. Mer is athletic and intelligent like a standard Malinois. She has high food drive and loves to tug. She has been evaled for sport work but has been turned down by applicants because of hip dysplasia. You would never know she has dysplastic hips though. She moves like a bottle rocket. We feel Mer would chase cats - so we are unsure if she would do well with them. She also needs additional work on potty training but we feel in a normal home setting she would get the hang of house training quickly. Meredith is a diamond in the rough - everyone that meets her falls in love.

Housetrained?: Almost! His biggest house flaw is chewing. So will need to be crated.
Rune is a happy go lucky guy with a lot of heart. He is an active athletic guy that would thrive in a home where walks are the norm. He is great with other dogs. He can play with high energy and also respect corrections from dogs that are not interested in him. We feel he would probably chase cats. He is gentle with humans and we feel that he would do well with kids.

Roxy is a sweet bump on the log type of dog. She gets along well with all dogs. She has bursts of energy where she plays and then crashes and naps hard. Roxy's favorite thing to do is sleep in the sun and snuggle up with a human. She is gentle and calm so we feel she would do well with kids. We are unsure of how she is with cats. She does react to eletric motors and moving things so we feel she may chase cats. Roxy is very quiet and calm in her kennel and never makes a mess. She should do great in a house with no extra training needed.

Raven is a happy go lucky dog. She is so short and squat and snorts like a pig when she is happy. Her favorite activity is playing with other dogs. Her temperament with other dogs is so soft and gentle that she is our resident tester dog for new dogs testing for playgroup. She doesn't seem too interested in moving things or squeaky things so we feel she would probably do ok with cats, though she has never formally been tested with them. She is a lil shy at first meet and so so gentle. So we feel she would be great with kids. Raven is quiet and calm in the kennel and keeps her area very tidy. We feel she would do great in a home without any training needed.

Dozer is sleepy mature gentleman that is looking for a couch to retire on. He enjoys the company of dogs, cats and kids! Truly a gentle kind soul. He used to live with small dogs and a cat and did great. He is also housetrained. His favorite activity is to sleep in sunbeams. Even though he is older, he still has a lot of pep in his step and can go on walks in the neighborhood, go to dog parks or doggy daycare etc.
