From your hotel in Vientiane go to the riverside dock near the Australian embassy to embark on a 9 day upper Mekong River Cruise past ethnic, Thai, Isan and Humong village temples in Laos, deep into the heart of South East Asia, near the infamous Gold Triangle. The cruise stops for a couple of nights in the World herratage listed ancient capital of Luang Prabang before heading further up the mighty Mekong River town of Huay Xai. From there you can take a 3 day cruise back to Luang Praban and beyond, all the way back to Vientiane. Alternatively you can cross the Mekong River near Huay Xai (pronounce Who ay zai) and catch as bus to Chang Rai and Chang Mai in Northern Thailand.
