The Lady Huskies softball team started their season off on a positive note. Going 3-1 over the opening weekend with wins over St. Paul, Gering, and Central City. Their only loss coming in the season opener to Lexington.

To start the season, the Huskies headed west to Lexington where they put together plenty of hits but couldn’t capitalize on the scoreboard. The Huskies had twelve hits with only two runs. Lexington ended the game with a walk-off home run, handing the Huskies a 3-2 loss.

On Friday the 21st, the Huskies hosted a tournament at the 4 Diamonds Complex. They started the tournament with a win over St. Paul where the Huskies got off to a strong start, putting up nine runs in the third inning, on the way to a 13-2 win.

Friday’s second game was a closer contest. The Huskies started the game off with a strong two-run first inning, but Gering answered back in the fourth with four runs. The Huskies answered their four run inning with a three-run inning of their own to tie the game. The Lady Huskies ended the game with junior Taryn Mckinney hitting a walk-off single, scoring the runner from second.
