For homecoming night, the Huskies battled with their rivals to the east, the York Dukes. Aurora pulled through and won the game with a final score of 37-21.

In the first quarter, junior Mack Owens scored the first touchdown of the night followed by a failed two-point conversion. Senior Andrew Bell then brought in another seven points after a 19-yard pass from senior Ethan Shaw.

In the second, York fought back and scored a touchdown only to see the Shaw to Bell combo respond with another touchdown. That would bring the score to 19-7 with the Huskies leading at half-time.

After half-time, Huskies kept their energy high as senior Jameson Herzberg brought in another touchdown pass, followed by a failed PAT by junior Alex Peters.

In the last quarter, sophomore Carlos Collazo delivered the final touchdown of the night on a 39-yard run with a failed two-point conversion to follow.

Shaw finished with 170 passing, with Bell proving the favorite target for the night with 93 yards receiving.

Owens ended the night with two touchdowns for the Huskies and had a total of 92 rushing yards for the game.

“Our line really helps. They were definitely very aggressive and made a push, which gave me room to score,” Owens said.

Next up for the Huskies, a trip to McCook, another traditional Class B rivalry.

“They’re definitely a really good football team, and they have a really fast quarterback. It’s definitely going to be a physical game,” Owens said.
