Summary

The summer house at Cousins Beach had always been a safe house, a sanctuary to Belly Conklin. Well, her real name was Isabel, but everyone had always called her Belly. The rest of the year didn't really count. The year didn't really start for Belly until she arrived at the summer house. Every summer since she was born, she had spent two blissful months at the beach with her summer family: her mother, her older brother Steven, and the Fishers. The Fishers were the family of her mother's best friend. Her mother and Susannah had been best friends their whole lives. Susannah had two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Conrad was two years older than Belly and Jeremiah was one year older. The four kids had always spent the summer swimming and playing on the beach, but this year was different. This could be the last year they spent summer in Cousins. This was the year Steven and Conrad were going to college and Jeremiah would be starting football camp the following summer. They had to make this summer count. Belly makes new friends, goes to parties, and tries to sort out her unresolved feelings for Conrad all in one summer. Could it prove to be too much to handle?
