Review

I give this book a 4½

The reason why it didn't get it five out of five but instead a four and a half was because of the ending and the introduction. The introduction didn't really hook me. It also made me confused. The ending was pretty awesome, expect for one thing. The outcome of many characters did not satisfy me. Other than that everything was awesome.

The characters were well described and written. They all enhance the plot and make it interesting and fun to read. I especially liked Rudy. His open and cheerful ways makes the readers want to read more about him.

The usage of words is also really well done. The author uses many figurative language such as metaphors. I also love the authors use of sarcasm. It gives people laughs throughout the heavy parts.

Additionally, the narrator, Death, was a amazing choice. While telling the story of Liesel, the readers also gets a glimpse at other scenes with along with Death. In my opinion, Death was a great choice for the narrator. The very last line "I am haunted by humans" (550) was just a spectacular ending, wrapping up the story in a mysterious way. It also conveys a deeper meaning of sadness and the trouble Death had seen them experienced.

This is a devastating yet powerful book. Any book-lovers who needs a good heartbreaking book should read The Book Thief.
