Evaluation of Crisis Response

Reflecting upon, debriefing, and evaluating the success of a crisis response is extremely important in order to ensure continuous improvement.

Evaluating the overall Crisis Response:    

This conversation should take place among the building-level and district-level personnel involved in organizing and responding to the crisis incident.  Building administrators and members of the District Action Team will engage in this conversation, looping in relevant individuals as necessary.

Evaluating the Mental Health interventions:

This conversation should take place among the personnel who worked with students, staff, and/or parents to address their psychological safety and recovery needs.  Participants may building administration, District Action Team members, and Crisis Responders who provided support in response to the crisis event.

Memorials:

There will also be decisions that need to be made regarding how to help memorialize a  student or teacher/staff in a safe and respectful manner that promotes recovery, hope, and positive action.  Balancing the desire to honor and remember a valued student or staff member with concerns for the emotional well-being of all students and staff within the building can be challenging.
