SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY🇪🇸

The Spanish Honor Society club serves as a platform for students to celebrate their passion for the Spanish language and culture while also promoting academic excellence and community engagement. It fosters a sense of camaraderie among like-minded individuals who share a love for the Hispanic world and a commitment to excellence in their studies.

Our club is committed to promote an appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, academic excellence, and community service. Members make new friends, gain a deeper understanding of the rich and diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, participate in community service projects that allow them to give back and make a positive impact in their local community. Members also have a chance to take on leadership roles within the club, fostering valuable leadership skills.

Students who meet certain criteria, including club meetings attendance, academic excellence, character, leadership and community service, will be invited to become members of the National Spanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica).  Membership in the Spanish Honor Society is a prestigious honor and a recognition of a student's dedication to Spanish language and culture.

Activities and Events:

Induction Ceremony: The highlight of the Spanish Honor Society calendar is the induction ceremony, held in May,  where new members are formally welcomed. This event often includes the lighting of candles, recitation of the Spanish Honor Society pledge, and the presentation of certificates or pins, followed by a small party.

Cultural Enrichment: Members participate in cultural enrichment activities, such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Spanish film night, cooking contest,  games, guest speakers, or a trip to Hispanic cultural event or restaurant.

Tutoring and Support: Our club offers free tutoring services to assist students struggling with Spanish coursework, or ENL students that need help in other subject areas, fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment.

Community Service: Spanish Honor Society members often engage in community service projects that promote the Spanish language and culture.

Fundraisers: Members participate in fundraising events that help support our cultural activities

Language Competitions: Our members participate in Spanish language competitions, for example in poetry or essay contests, but also a poster, song or dance competition.
