Nassakeag Library Year In Review
The photos below highlight some of the exciting things students did in the library this year including a book tasting, 3D printing, coding, robotics, and of course browsing for their next great read.
Coding with Bee-Bots
Second grade students used their coding skills to program a Bee-Bot to retell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Students try to fit together 12 unique shaped Pentominoes to solve pattern puzzles-from simple rectangles, everyday objects, and animals.
May 12th-16th is Multicultural Week at Nassakeag Elementery school. Stop into the Library to check out a book on a country from around the world or use one of the databases to search for a place you'd like to learn more about or visit!
April is School Library Month and April 6th-12th is National Library Week! Be sure to stop in the library to celebrate and check out a great book.
Book Tasting
Students in grades 3-5 visited the library to browse books from different genres. During a book tasting students read from a book for about 5 minutes to see if it is one they enjoy. After the time is up they get to "taste" another one.
Who Would Win?
Stop into the library to vote on who you think is going to win the Super Bowl.
While you are here, be sure to check out one of the books in the popular "Who Would Win?" series or a book about football.

Coding with Bee-Bots
Students learned the basics of coding during a recent library visit by programming their Bee-Bot to follow the same path the snowmen took in the book "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buehner.
Origami Monster Bookmarks
During a visit to the library, students created an origami monster bookmark for Halloween.
Creepy Carrots Halloween Design Challenge
For this activity based on the Caldecott Honor Book, Creepy Carrots, by Aaron Reynolds, 5th grade students used clothes pins and popsicle sticks to create a structure to keep their creepy carrots from escaping the carrot patch.
Stop in the library to check out a new book to read by the fire on a cold night!
Congratulations to second grade student Madison Indenbaum winner of the Emma Clark Library design a bookmark contest.
