This unit is designed to provide students with appropriate activities and learning opportunities to develop skills such as self-management, social skills, and how to handle stress and anxiety. The goal of this unit is for all students to leave the fifth and sixth grade school counseling program with age appropriate understanding and the ability to handle personal and social issues that may arise.
All lessons in this unit will focus on the readiness of sixth grade students for college and careers. This unit is designed to broaden the knowledge and ideas about college and careers through interactive and fun activities. In addition, this unit will assist students to identify how their interests, abilities, and skills related to post-secondary schools and career options. The goal of this unit is for all students to leave the fifth and sixth grade school counseling program with awareness of colleges, careers, understanding of employability skills and better knowledge on how their personal skills and interests coincide with post-secondary opportunities.
