Using Visuals

Step 1: Open Visuals

Ensure that the visual is open on your computer or mobile device (iPhone/iPad). We recommend opening any items you will be sharing prior to class time so they are easily accessible.

Step 2: Share Screen

Click the Share Screen button in the main toolbar in your live classroom windows.

Step 3: Select visual to share

Select the type of visual you would like to share:

  • Desktop: You will see Desktop 1, Desktop 2, etc... if you have multiple screens.

  • Whiteboard: Blank white screen.

  • iPhone/iPad: Either via AirPlay or Cable - we recommend setting this up in advance if you plan to use either during class.

  • Camera: For sharing a physical visual in the room with you.

  • Specific Application: Such as Excel or PowerPoint. We recommend using this option, rather than full Desktop, to avoid accidentally sharing private information like an email preview that pops up on your screen.

Step 4: Screen menu options

On the screen sharing menu that appears, you have several options:

  • Mute. Allows you to mute or unmute your audio.

  • Stop Video. Allows you to stop or start your video.

  • Manage Participants. Allows you to view the Participants list and allow students in from the Waiting Room, if necessary.

  • New Share. This will bring up the previous screen and allow you to share another window. Using this option can be helpful if you are switching between multiple visuals as it eliminates the need to start and stop each time.

  • Pause Share. This will pause your screen as it currently appears and allow you to annotate.

  • Annotate. This allows you to type and draw on the visual you are sharing.

  • More. This provides you with several important options. In particular, the option to “Disable Attendee Annotation” appears under this menu.

  • Note: By default, students are able to annotate on your screen. To prevent them from doing so, click More and then "Disable Attendee Annotation".

Step 5: Stop Share

To stop sharing your screen, click the red Stop Share button.
