What Are SP Heroes?
SP Heroes are a new system of upgrading heroes introduced in the third year of the game (Estimated to come around January 2021 for Global, and July 2021 for SEA). Like Exclusive Equipment and 3C skills, these will be added only a few at a time and not every hero will have one. When unlocked, the hero will essentially gain a completely new final class, complete with a unique statline, skills, and soldier. If the base hero is not an SSR Hero, then the new SP Class version of the hero will have SSR-quality stats. The SP Class will also have a unique talent completely different than what the base hero has. While this unique talent will be exclusive to the SP Hero, the new skills and soldier unlocked this way can be shared with the normal version of the hero (and vice versa), just like unlocking a new class normally.
The dev team has said that SP Heroes, unlike exclusive equipment and 3C skills, will be released on an irregular schedule, with at least 2 months of development time needed for each one.
How Do I Unlock SP Mode for a Hero?
To unlock an SP Hero, the base Hero in question must reach level 60, have a maxed heart bond, and the player must obtain a new type of item known as "Heart of Desire". Hearts of Desire are similar to Hero Shards in that they are unique to each hero. However, this is only the beginning. Aside from obtaining these Hearts of Desire, the upgrades require a number of other materials, including Class Materials, Bond Keys, Runestones, Heart Bond Materials, Awakening Materials, Mastery Stones, and even Memory Essences.
The player must also complete a series of difficult challenges, separated into two phases, to unlock the SP Hero's full potential. (Of course, many of the items from these challenges can also be obtained via the cash shop) For details on these new classes and skills, you may visit each hero's dedicated page.
Phase 1 of a SP Hero's upgrades will unlock the Hero's new art, talent, and SP class. Phase 2 will unlock a new soldier, new skills, and increase the stats of the Hero.
