Stephanie Lindemann

Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL, Georgia State University

Welcome to my home page!

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University. I teach courses in sociolinguistics, phonetics, and general linguistics. My research takes a critical sociolinguistic perspective on the native speaker in native–non-native interaction. Much of my work investigates how listeners' attitudes or beliefs about speakers affect the success of their communication with those speakers. Recently I have focused on developing and assessing training that improves people’s skills, strategies, and openness to communication with people from varied linguistic backgrounds, especially helping native speakers with comprehension of non-native varieties.

My CV is available here.
