For future graduate students
I'm keen to accept graduate students to work on my research projects. I'm also keen to accept students with original ideas since they are related to my research interests (sorry, but this is the only way to assure my contribution). Feel free to contact me.
My advising philosophy
I'm very transparent with my advisees.
The dissertation is not mine. I'll respect your decisions.
Diversity is important ("being different makes us collectively stronger").
I respect the boundaries of your professional x personal life.
I love doing research, and I hope you feel the same.
Guidelines for future graduate students
If you want to join my research team as a Master or Ph.D. student, you must follow these guidelines:
First of all, you must demeanor in an ethical way (always).
You should be very research-driven.
You must be able to work independently.
You must be able to completely read in English (not using a translator!). There are some free courses online (kultivi, Globalizando, and some apps, like Duolingo).
You must dedicate most of your time to the research project (full-time preferred). If you work with a lot of other things (like a formal job or similar), try another advisor. If you plan to have a scholarship, then full-time dedication is paramount.
Time management is important. Save your time and also save mine.
I'm committed to research transparency and reproducibility. You must do the same.
I work with quantitative or mixed methods, not with pure qualitative research. This means that you must be open to studying Statistics.
If you want to change your project later and start with another adviser, it's ok. Be transparent and ethical.
We can publish together, but I'll not put my name if I don't contribute to the article.
