Classes Currently Planned

• Musical Instrument Petting Zoo - Lady Hextilda Violet MacLean

Get up close and personal with various wind, string, and percussion instruments

   Duration 1.5 hours

• Intro to Ultimate Guitar- Lady Vani ka Bhediya

Learn how to navigate and how to use the helpful app, Ultimate Guitar.

Duration 1 Hour

• Singing in Rounds: Practice and Tips for Event Performances -  Sir Aelfred of Cres
  Learn how to sing in rounds and how to prepare yourself for live performances.
  Limit 10 people
  Duration 1 hour

• 4 Drum Beats Common in the SCA - Master Achbar ibn Ali
  Learn how to stay on the beat in medieval music. Bring a drum if you have one.
  Duration 1 hour

• Drum Circle- Led by Lady Hadassah bat Aaron ha-Karai
  A laid-back chance to drum with others. Bring your own drum.

• Introduction to Music Solars - Lady Antoinette la Rouge d'Avignon (AKA Lady Frenchie) & Mistress Deirdre Morgan
  Duration 30 min
  Introducing the concept of a shared space during events for musicians, singers, and percussionists to play and sing together a variety of period (and near period) songs that are easy to learn and play. We’re looking to curate a collection of songs and tunes that will allow minstrels of all levels and abilities to enjoy the camaraderie of music together. This class will introduce the purposes and concepts, along with a round table conversation about what defines a Music Solar.  

• How to Prepare for a Music Solar- Lady Antoinette la Rouge d'Avignon & Mistress Deirdre Morgan
  Duration 1 hour
  Coordinating and collaborating on songs and tunes with people of varying abilities takes a little extra preparation, but the end result can be an enhanced event experience. We will go into some of the best practices, courtesies, and coordinations to make it an enjoyable experience for all. We will introduce some song excerpts selected to experience what it means to coordinate and collaborate for a fun experience for all. Bring a favorite song or tune for us to work on together if there is enough time in the class.

• Music Solar- Hosted by Lady Antoinette la Rouge d'Avignon & Mistress Deirdre Morgan
  Duration 1+ hour
  Sing a long + Jam session = Music Solar. You are welcome to participate with us!  There is no requirement to join in, though you will enjoy it more if you have taken the other two Music Solar classes.

• English Country Dancing - Baroness Signy Dimmridaela
  Come join in the fun of ECD- no previous dance experience required for a fun time.
  Duration 1 hour  

• European Dances - Magister Lorenzo Petrucci
  A variety of SCA favorites!
  Duration 1.5 hours 

• Beginner Recorder Class- Abigael MacDonald
  Come learn the basics of how to play the recorder.
  Bring your own recorder or $10 for recorder and handout
  Duration 1 hour
  Limit 9 people

For those who will be attending the workshop, it was very fashionable during certain times in period to have lavish displays of sweets as part of dances at court. In keeping with this tradition, we will be having a dessert board throughout the day, in addition to the usual light lunch. Please bring offerings of your favorite sweet treats to share!
