Competing and displaying can be daunting for even the most veteran of Scadian artisans. Join us for a day focused on demystifying this aspect of the A&S world.
Classes for all levels of artisans and scientists, all variations of art forms.
Also featuring a Mini-KASF: You are invited to set up displays of your work, research, etc., similar to what is done at the Kingdom Arts & Sciences Festival (KASF). You can put it up just for display, or request feedback to help improve the display. For those planning on participating in KASF the following month, this will be a good opportunity to practice setting up, and perhaps to refine, your display. So we are able to adequately prepare, we ask you sign up for table space: https://forms.gle/feY8jr8EHDjp5T9w7
Donation Lunch Menu: The main course will be feijoada, a Brazilian bean and meat stew, served with rice and sautéed kale, finished with a fruit plate. Vegetarian versions will be available, as well.
If you will be joining us for the Donation Lunch, we kindly ask that you pre-register by emailing hagartheblack at Gmail dot com.

"Documentation for Performing Arts" - Baroness Machteld Cleine - Why, when, how and why not! A guided discussion with examples, ideas and methods.
"Displaying/Competing with Perishables", Haelfdige Annora Hall - You researched your food, prepared samples, and now it is display / competition time. Please join me as I share lessons learned about presentation of food and its documentation while observing food safety in our post Covid game. Examples and samples will be provided used to illustrate lessons learned.
"Documentation – One Size Does NOT Fit All", Master Hagar the Black - Much has been written and said about THE right way to do documentation, but there is more than one good way to do it, because there is more than one reason that we create and use documentation. It is a mistake to think of documentation as being just for entering competitions, because that is only one type. In this class, we will explore several different ways that documentation is used in describing our artistic endeavors, and why something which is good for one may not work so well for others.
"How to Display Efficiently for your SCA Display and Research", Mistress Adair of Makyswell - This class will be presented in how to display tastefully and efficiently at the Kingdom Arts and Science competitions throughout the year as well as Pennsic and Gulf Wars. This class will also prepare you for those submissions that can and should not be touch can be presented in a way that no one will touch your embroideries and Beadwork to include quilting as touching damages the surface of specific items to include embroideries, bead embroidery and pearls.
By the end of the class you will start carrying a zip lock bag and a pair of cotton gloves and art tweezers if you are selected to judge at an event."
"Photography for Display and Competition", Baroness Machteld Cleine - In this hands on class we will experiment with lights, backgrounds, textures and more on how to get the best pictures of your art. What kind of pictures are helpful for documentation? How do you show off your work? How can you set up a display that photographs best? Bring your cameras or cellphones and let's find out. After a short lecture, we we'll dive in to experiment!
