PTO Board Members
PTO Board members are volunteers who have committed to serving for at least 1 school year (treasurer position commits to 2 years). Board members are also responsible for chairing at least one event. Nominations for board positions are submitted in late spring and a vote is held near the end of each school year.NOW ACCEPTIING NOMINATIONS FOR PTO EXECUTIVE BOARD 2024/2025
Northwest PTO is looking to fill positions on the executive board for the 2024-2025 school year. "PTO" stands for "Parent Teacher Organization" and we welcome any parents or guardians of Northwest Elementary students to get involved! While anyone can volunteer, PTO Board members are volunteers who commit to serving for at least 1 school year (the treasurer position commits to 2 years). Board members are also responsible for co-chairing at least one event per school year.
NOTE: the Treasurer position is not currently open for the 2024/2025 school year. All other positions are available.
If you are interested or would like to nominate someone who you think would be a great candidate, please fill out a nomination form NO LATER THAN TUESDAY APRIL 16. A member of the Nominating Committee will contact all nominees. The elections will be held at the April 23, 2024 PTO meeting. Please contact a current PTO board member or a nominating committee member with any questions you have about the offices and process.
PTO Board Position Descriptions
President
Serves as principal executive officer of the organization. Supervises and controls the activities of the organization. Organizes and assists board members in selecting a chairperson for all PTO events for the current school year. Presides and participates in all PTO monthly meetings and executive board meetings.Vice-President
Acts as an aide to the president and performs the president duties in the absence or inability of the president. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year. Performs other duties as needed.Recording Secretary
Keeps the minutes of the proceedings of the monthly meetings. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year and performs other duties as required.Corresponding Secretary
Conducts delegated correspondence on behalf of the organization. Acts as the Recording Secretary in their absence. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year. Performs other duties as needed.Treasurer
Responsible for all funds of the organization. Keeps an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures. Gives a financial report at meetings. Prepares documents for the PTO accountant for tax filings. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year. Performs other duties as needed. Treasurer is the only position that requires a two-year commitment.Assistant Treasurer
Collects and deposits PTO monies. Assists treasurer with financial duties. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year. Performs other duties when needed.Fundraising Coordinator
Develops sponsorship plans and maintains relationships with local vendors. Keeps track of all donations and oversees all passive income streams. Responsible for obtaining annual raffle licenses and supervising raffles to ensure legal compliance. Assist in determining fundraising plans and goals for the year. Responsible for chairing at least one PTO event during the school year. Performs other delegated duties as assigned.

a favorite Northwest tradition: Jingle Bell Fair. I can remember getting to shop at the fair and feeling so grown up! Now I get to see all the fun from the opposite side!
Things have come full circle! I attended Northwest for my K-8 school years and was here when the mascot was changed from a giraffe to Buddy the Bulldog!
