Daily Screening Protocols

Parents/caregivers should be strongly encouraged to monitor their children for signs of illness every day as they are the front line for assessing illness in their children.

Individuals who are unvaccinated and experience COVID-19 "like" symptoms will be required to following:

Students who are experiencing COVID-19 “like” symptoms as outlined by NJDOH chart must be able to produce a negative test or must quarantine for a total of 10 days.

COVID-19 "LIKE" symptoms are as follows:


At least two of the following symptoms: fever (measure or subjective), chills, rigors (shivers), myalgia (muscle aches), headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion, or runny nose;


At least one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new olfactory disorder, or new taste disorder.


Students who are sick should not attend school.

Students will continue to be screened for a temperature each day. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be evaluated by the school nurse for other symptoms and a parent/guardian must pick the student up from school. All students MUST be able to answer "NO" to each of the questions below in order to attend school for the day. If you answered "YES" to any of the questions below, please notify your primary care physician or contact your local urgent care if you haven't already spoken to them.

Sibling & Family Related Information:

Unvaccinated siblings of a student who has symptoms and meets COVID-19 Exclusion Criteria will also be excluded from school until the symptomatic individual receives a negative test result. If the symptomatic individual tests positive, the siblings will need to quarantine.

HOME SCREENING TOOL FOR PARENTS

Close Contacts: All students/staff (unvaccinated) within 6 feet of an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 for over 15 minutes must quarantine for 10 days. Individuals who are vaccinated and identified as a close contact must test 3 - 5 days after his/her exposure.

REMOTE INSTRUCTION

Students who are identified as a "close contact" by the NJDOH and/or school district -OR - students diagnosed as COVID-19 POSITIVE will be offered the option of "Live Stream Remote Instruction" during the school day. Students must engage in this learning during the actual school day as it can not be replicated in the evening. Students who attend school in this manner while on quarantine will not be counted as absent.


THIS OPTION IS ONLY PERMITTED FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A CLOSE CONTACT OR HAVE A CONFIRMED COVID-19 POSITIVE TEST.

A 24 HOUR "SET-UP" TIME MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE TEACHER TO TRANSITION YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING TO REMOTE LIVE INSTRUCTION.
