Where do my tuition fees go?

Parents often wonder exactly what is covered by the tuition fees in any music studio. Whilst a price cannot be put on the joy given through learning the art of music, to get there does require the assistance of a professional - your child's music teacher. In order to do this, the teacher must charge a fee which allows their business to be viable. In general, fees cover (but are not limited to ) the following:

  • Time spent in face-to-face lessons with the student
  • Time spent in preparation for lessons (preparing resources and lesson/progress plans, writing reports, bookkeeping)
  • The Teacher's training and experience
  • Recital/concert costs, preparation and time
  • Extra free lessons in preparation prior to exams or other performances
  • Professional organisation membership
  • Continuing education (attendance at Professional Development workshops, purchasing of resources to assist with improving teaching)
  • Taxes and insurances
  • Music books and CDs (purchased to keep costs low for students, and also to enable suitable lesson preparation and repertoire selection for students)
