Race Across America - RAAM

Race Across America - RAAM in brief

It is one of the toughest, demanding and brutal races in the sport world, where racers experience both physical and mental boundaries. The length of the journey, the limited time of the race and the rigidity of the conditions spice up the monsters of the monument's miles.

By the end of 2016, the 35th race and only a few more than 300 Solo competitors came to the finish line.

1. 3000 miles (5000 km), climbing 175.000 ft, six Mount Everest

2. 12 days, every day racers are climbing 14.500 ft

3. Solo competition is the most demanding series in which following is forbidden, RAAM also includes team competitions

4. When time starts to run, the clock does not stop before the goal, so it is a non-stop competition

5. If it does not reach the predetermined points in the target times, then the competitor is flagged out (three time cuts)

6. sleep / rest is one of the biggest challenges (sleep 3-4 h per day)

7. the adequate supply of energies, liquids and salts is really behind the hard work (15-20 liters and 10,000+ kcal per day)

8. Weather fluctuations are fierce and are extreme-hot deserts from +50 ° C to stormy winds, storms and even tornadoes

9. Each competitor has his own support team

10. During the first 3 days, 30% of racers are forced to stop, 50% of the travelers do not see the goal, and 70% of the rookies can not get to the finish
