Ubuntu: Insert symbol

To insert a symbol using uni-codes, regardless your language settings or keyboard layout, press the following combination on any keyboard Ctrl + Shift + U then type the code. This even works in a web browser.


e.g. to insert ₹:

From a quick internet search, I found the corresponding unicode (alternate list) for ₹. You will press Ctrl + Shift + U . "u" will appear. Now type the code 20b9 and hit space.
