School Standards
Bahá’í School Standards
To preserve and enhance group unity and respect the standards of the Faith, the National Bahá’í School Committee has adopted standards for all of us while at school. Each of these standards is designed to protect the Faith, the school, and the participants. They are fully obligatory for all attendees. Parents/Sponsors should make sure that children and youth understand the standards.
Class attendance is required for all ages.
Please do not bring pets, distracting phone/tablet applications or programs, game systems or other devices which might make noise, distract a class or prevent you from interacting with other participants.
Each child/youth under age 18 who attends the school without a parent must be accompanied by a sponsor who will be responsible for the child’s welfare and conduct. Sponsors should be 21 or older and of the same sex as those sponsored. The only exception is that a Grandparent, aunt, or uncle may sponsor a related child of either sex. No adult should sponsor more than two children in addition to his/her own. Sponsor and child must be housed together during the school.
Parents and sponsors of all children as well as youth, are completely responsible for their charges at all times when students are not in class. This includes meal times, free times, and evenings. Parents/sponsors must be present if children/youth are swimming, unless a licensed lifeguard(s) is present. If swimming when no lifeguard is on duty, parents/sponsors are responsible for the safety of their children/youth.
Accidents or illness should be reported to the School Nurse or a School Committee Member. Medical releases for minors (18 and under) are necessary, even if parents are on campus.
Visitors and day students should check in at Registration.
A curfew of 10:00 p.m. is suggested for those ages 11 and under. Quiet hours begin at 11:00 p.m. for all ages.
Hotel/campus facilities should be kept clean and in good order.
No smoking will be allowed in classrooms or in any part of the school facility.
No drugs or alcohol will be tolerated.
No firearms or martial arts items will be permitted.
We will adhere strictly to the code of conduct and dress as prescribed by Shoghi Effendi. High standards of morality, courtesy, cleanliness and modesty of dress will be upheld.
Disobedience of these rules may result in dismissal from the school.
Questions on school standards may be referred to the School Committee.
