Bali Care Economy Dialogue

12-14 November 2022

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

The Bali Care Economy Dialogue was a collaboration across a consortium of partners, including The Asia Foundation, Center for Global Development, Oxfam, WeProsper Coalition, UN Women, Global Alliance for Care, and IDRC with support from the U.S. State Department Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues. Key Asia-Pacific-based partners included SEWA, Mobile Creches, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, IWWAGE, Gender Lab, and the Pacific Disability Forum.

On 12-14 November 2022, the Bali Care Economy Dialogue in Ubud, Bali, brought together approximately 80 participants from government, the private sector, and civil society. Immediately preceding the G20 Leaders' Summit, this event was intended to leverage global momentum around transforming the care economy while elevating Asia-Pacific perspectives on care. This high-level dialogue focused on actionable policies and strategies to build a resilient care work ecosystem in Asia and the Pacific.

The Bali Care Dialogue was designed to seed interest in a larger regional agenda that will capitalize on Asia-Pacific global moments in 2023. This includes the G20 Summit in India, the Japan G7 Presidency, and the U.S. hosting APEC, where robust policy and programmatic commitments can be made.
