Buy Back Services
APS offers charter and partner schools access to a range of services and vendors through the district’s buy back services program. The Office of Charter + Partner Schools facilitates the buy back services program. Charter and partner schools can access the most recent buy back services guide here. Existing charter schools who elect to petition for renewal of their charter will go through a process with the following components:
Initial meeting with Office of Charter + Partner Schools to discuss the renewal process and timelines and to review highlights of annual performance monitoring from current charter term
Submission of charter renewal petition application to Office of Charter + Partner Schools including any proposed changes for next charter term
Panel interview about current performance relative to the APS charter school performance framework and elements of the school’s renewal petition application
At the conclusion of that process, the Office of Charter + Partner Schools will consult with the APS superintendent who will make a recommendation to the Atlanta Board of Education to approve or deny the renewal of the school’s charter. If approved, the State Board of Education will then make its own determination as to whether to approve or deny the school’s charter.
