A+ Program

A+ Program Info

The A+ Program is a Missouri program that was initiated by the state to provide financial assistance for high school students planning to attend a Missouri community college or vocational/technical school. The A+ Program will cover up to 2 years’ worth of tuition and school fees for students that complete the A+ requirements and enroll in an A+ approved college or Vocational Tech school. The A+ requirements are as follows:

1. Be a U.S. citizen

2. Complete an A+ Agreement with your high school

3. Attend an A+ designated high school for at least 2 years prior to graduation

4. Graduate from an A+ designated school with an overall unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher

5. Have at least a 95% attendance record overall for grades 9-12

6. Perform at least 50 hours of unpaid tutoring, of which 25% can be job shadowing

7. Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of drugs and/or alcohol while in grades 9-12

8. Achieve a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra 1 EOC, OR meet additional ACT Mathematics and GPA requirements

Although the A+ Program provides the most financial assistance to students attending Missouri community colleges, some 4-year institutions honor students’ A+ status with partial assistance in the form of A+ scholarships. These A+ scholarships typically range from $1000-$2000 an academic year, dependent upon the university. Northwest Missouri State University and Missouri Western State University are two such universities that award A+ students with automatic scholarships over the course of all 4 years.

All students grades 9-12 can begin accumulating these A+ hours by tutoring younger students during seminar or before/after school hours. If you have a question about your student’s A+ eligibility or would like to check on the status of their tutoring hours, please feel free to contact Mrs. Taylor.
