About Málaga

With a population of close to 570,000 (in 2012), Málaga is the second most populated city within Andalucia and the sixth largest in Spain. Málaga enjoys the warmest winters in Europe, with average temperatures of 17.2C during the months of December to February. Its southerly location, the strong maritime influence from the Mediterranean and the protection offered by the Montes de Malaga, which act as a barrier against weather systems from the north, all combine to give Malaga a fantastic year round climate. Once considered the poor cousin of Andalusia’s capital city, Seville, Malaga now competes successfully for attention, thanks to its profusion of quirky museums, delightful pedestrianised centre, innovative restaurants and stylish hotels, many featuring trendy rooftop terraces with bar, pool and stunning views. Muelle Uno is a contemporary leisure complex in the port - while a new arty district called SOHO is bringing a bohemian edge to the city. Malaga City has much to offer a tourist, not only is it the cosmopolitan capital of the Costa del Sol it also has kilometres of beautiful sandy beaches. The beaches are all situated along the Promenade of Pablo Ruiz Picasso which is lined with bars and restaurants where you can sample Malagueño produce and culture at its best. Malagueta and La Caleta are the busiest beaches.
