Students participate in the city wide competition in the fall!

Soccer/Basketball

Soccer / Basketball

These sports takes place in the fall and we have entered teams for the past 5 years in Division 2.


Volleyball

We love volleyball at Horizon and host an annual Alternative schools tournament. We have outdoor nets that we set up in fall and spring.We also play competitively and enter teams in Division 2.

Touch Football/Badminton

In general, we offer these sports every year, depending on interest. 

Track & Field

Close to year end, students can participate in the city wide track and field competition in a range of events.

Ultimate Frisbee

Every spring we run an ultimate frisbee team. The focus is on skill building and spirit of the game. In previous years, we have entered teams in Division 2.

Dance & Celebration

The dance and celebration committee is responsible for planning and running all school dances and events. 

Equity and KIVA

This committee will explore and contribute to humanitarian engagement and initiatives that consider how we can support diversity and development in our community and around the world. 

Pets

At Horizon we have had many pets -  guinea pigs, mice, a gecko, and a snake. The committee is responsible for taking care of the pets and bringing them out to socialize with the other students. 

Eco

The Eco committee is responsible for ecological initiatives throughout the school as well as preparing our school for the annual Eco Audit, which takes place in late May or early June.

Athletics

The Athletics committee is responsible for organizing and supporting athletic and fitness based activities for our community.  We will be applying for Healthy Schools Certification this year!

Yearbook

The Horizon yearbook is created by students. The committee with choose the categories, pictures and layout for the entire yearbook. It's their job to capture the essence of the school year.
