Hidden Disabilities

Sutton Council has signed up to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme supporting people with disabilities that may not be obvious. Some disabilities, such as autism, dementia, mental health issues or learning difficulties may be difficult to spot however, under the Hidden Disability Sunflower scheme, people with such disabilities can choose to wear a lanyard bearing a sunflower logo as a subtle way of letting others know that they may require additional support, assistance or a bit more time.

If you have been to the Civic Offices or Sutton library reception recently you will have noticed we are displaying Hidden Disabilities posters. The next step is for all Sutton Council staff to complete the short training session (only 10 minutes long) that takes you through what to do should you meet somebody wearing a sunflower lanyard or wrist band.

Once you have completed the training you can collect an ‘I Support’ badge to clip to your Sutton lanyard to show you have completed the training.
