ECO COMMITTEE REPORT BY MRS TOMLINSON

We are delighted to announce that St Stephen's is striving to achieve Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation. Eco-Schools is a charity which is passionate about engaging young people in environmental education and most importantly, action. They do this by providing a simple, seven-step framework that guides, empowers and motivates pupils to drive change and improve environmental awareness in their school, local community and beyond!

After completing this seven step process, St Stephen's will apply for Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation, which recognises, rewards and celebrates the environmental achievements of young people.

Twenty-six pupils, across both KS1 and KS2, were selected to champion and drive this goal! Under the wings of Mrs Tomlinson, they will set out to complete each of the seven steps required. These seven steps are: building an Eco-Committee, completing an environmental review, putting in place an action plan, making links with the curriculum, informing and involving others, monitoring and evaluating their action plan and lastly, forming an eco-code.

Our Eco-Committee members are: Florence and Mete (Year 1), Jessiah and Aria (Year 2), Seren, Logan and Fred (Year 3), Molly, Samuel, Madi, Kitty and Oli G (Year 4), Daniel P, Lewis, Iyla, Murray, Isabella and Benjamin (Year 5) and Lilja, Elodie, Arthur, Eleanor, Ariadne, Finn (secretary), Adelaide (assistant secretary) and Amy (chairperson) (Year 6)

Year Two Nativity

For obvious reasons this was a 'closed performance' and instead of a whole school audience with proud parents in attendance, they had to perform to camera in our beautiful St Stephen's Church. This did not stop them pulling out all the stops. It was a triumph. Here are some stills from the day.

Well done Year Two.

SMILE, YOU'RE ON CANDID CAMERA

In Computing lessons our Year Two children are learning photography techniques, using their Chromebooks. Here they are snapping each other. Lighting, framing the shot, whether to shoot a portrait or landscape picture, are all things they are learning to consider.
