WWX Board Maker

Post date: Aug 12, 2010 4:25:26 AM

Wudword Board Maker plugin automates the creation of board components for designing woodworking projects in SketchUp. in combines the creation of a 2D rectangle, the push to 3D representation of a board, and it also makes it a SketchUp component while at it - all in one step.

Since I have a feeling this plugin can be of great value to many people, including new users, Version 1 of this plugin is offered here for FREE (although donations would be most welcome in any size shape and form)!

tested with version 7+, 8+ and 2013 on windows, mac, and linux

You can see it here:

To Install the plugin, download the attached .zip file (just under this post) and:

    1. Extract the wwxboardmaker.zip to a temporary location on your hard drive.

    2. Copy the extracted wudworx.rb and wudworx folder to your plugins location:

      1. SketchUp 7:

        1. \library\application support\Google SketchUp7\SketchUp\Plugins\ (on a Mac)

        2. or

        3. C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\plugins\ (on a PC)

      2. SketchUp 2014:

        2. or

        3. C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins (on a PC)

        4. (on a MAC It is possible that this folder is not visible in your finder by default, in which case you can go to Finder menu “Go” -> “go to folder” and copy paste the above path and changing to your user name on your mac computer to get to the referenced folder)

    1. Restart SketchUp

    2. in Preferences->Extensions, Enable Wudworx if not already enabled

    3. Design

Future versions which will offer some customizations (presets for component names etc) will be a paid option and will be included with the Wudworx Library.
