9th Workshop
SDS2016
STRUCTURAL DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS:
Computational Aspects
Hotel-Villaggio Porto Giardino,
Capitolo, Monopoli, Italy
June 14-17, 2016
The Workshop will take place at the Hotel Porto Giardino Resort Capitolo-Monopoli, Bari, Italy
The main aim of this workshop is to put together researchers of different areas, in particular Mathematics and Engineering, to give them the opportunity of discussing, in a friendly atmosphere, recent developments in computational and theoretical methods for Dynamical Systems and their applications.
This edition of the meeting follows eight previous editions held, at the same place, in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 and will be focused on Dynamical Systems and their applications. The main topics are:
Continuous and Discrete Dynamical Systems;
Mathematical Models with Applications;
Piecewise-smooth Dynamical Systems and Discontinuous ODEs;
Numerical Methods for ODEs and PDEs;
Fractional Differential Equations;
Models and Simulation in Engineering Problems.
Numerical and theoretical aspects of the previous topics will be welcome.
The list of invited speakers includes:
Luca Dieci (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA)
Nicolas Gillis (Université de Mons, Belgium)
Nicola Guglielmi (University of L'Aquila, Italy)
Jean-Philippe Lessard (Université Laval, Québec, Canada)
Anotida Madzvamuse (University of Sussex, UK)
Francesco Mainardi (University of Bologna, Italy)
Alexander Ostermann (Innsbruck University, Austria)
Valeria Simoncini (University of Bologna, Italy)
Catalin Trenchea (University of Pittsburgh, USA)
Erik Van Vleck (University of Kansas, USA)
Plenary talks will be arranged in order to provide lectures on each workshop topic. Contributed talks will be accepted.
A poster session will be organized to present contributes of Senior researchers (who do not desire to provide oral presentation and/or in the case the number of contributed talks will exceed the available places for oral presentations) and for PhD students who would like to showcase their work.
PhD Students who have already made some progress on their thesis, can present a synopsis of their work, whereas students who are just beginning their thesis, can present an overview of what they are proposing to study. Poster presentation will provide PhD students with feedback on their work, accomplished or planned, in a less formal setting than that of a plenary presentation.
