Our Heroes

9:00am Monday 2 December. Sofitel Tahiti.

Windstar’s VP of Marketing has arrived from Seattle to address the passengers (only 31 hours after the alarm was first raised onboard Wind Song). He will answer questions and tell us what the cruise line will do to try to salvage our vacations while also trying to secure Wind Song and retrieve our belongings. At this point it is not known if the fire burned the passenger compartments or not. But more importantly, it is known that all passengers and crew are safe and no one was seriously injured.

First on the agenda....a big thank you to some of the crew leaders who took care of us and got us safely off the ship.

Passengers give a standing ovation to the crew leaders.

Most of us are wearing our newly issued “Wind Song team uniform” consisting of either the Dragon-and-Snake Martial Arts T-shirt or a strategically-tied, floral pareo -- both of which were kindly given to us by Windstar on arrival at the hotel along with toiletry essentials, etc. They truly tried to anticipate our needs and did a terrific job of mitigating an unfortunate situation.
