Club History
Here is a brief overview:
The University of Cincinnati Amateur Radio Club in its initial form was first established in 1921. An announcement of our founding can be found on page three of this News Record issue from Apr. 19, 1921.
The first mention of the club's call sign can be found on the front page of this News Record issue from Dec. 6, 1921. The club initially used the call sign "8WY". The addition of the "W" in W8YX occurred sometime around October 1, 1928, in response to increased regulatory pressure from the US government on amateur radio stations.
