All ER studies should be read
All ICU studies should be opened and reviewed as if they were ER studies. If there is an urgent finding, read it and finalize it to the "Radiologist, ED" as if it was an ER study. If there are no urgent findings, it should still be read as soon as possible and finalized to "Radiologist, ED"
All Inpatient studies should be opened and read if there is an urgent finding. Otherwise, you may screen them to "ZZZscreened"

7. MSK Aspirations:
When getting an afterhours aspiration request either directly from the team or forwarded from the IR service, please make sure orthopedics has been consulted and that they truly need the aspiration overnight or the weekend, or if it can wait until normal working hours.
If after confirming with ortho they truly want the aspiration emergently, present the request to an MSK attending or fellow that is on service at that time. If no MSK staff are currently working, call the MSK section head first to review the consult. If unable to get in touch with the MSK section head, continue to call down the list of faculty in the MSK section. Phone numbers should be listed in QGenda.
8. VA Studies / VA IR Requests:
Residents are the backup for the VA if their tele service goes down
VA tech should call to inform you + fax study info. Use "VA Workgroup" filter
Email results to vaprelim@gmail.com and include who the results were communicated to
We don't field IR requests. Redirect any requests to the VA operator: 513-861-3100
Residents are available for technologists' questions after hours to include protocols and contrast. The technologist should provide a call back number for the ordering provider to discuss if needed. Consult the VA Radiology Department Contrast Policy for any contrast questions.
