I'm glad to see that you've come to read the story of the Cult of Tom Video Confessional Booth. I sure hope you enjoy yourself.

The first thing to understand is that the story of the Cult of Tom is at heart the story of a booth. A video confessional booth. A video confessional booth for our office. A video confessional booth for our office with unwavering devotion to our director as its fundamental theme. It was an eighteen-month design and construction effort by a few engineers at Google Santa Monica with the goal of building our own video booth, and basically making it awesome. The Cult of Tom memes that spilled out from the ongoing project were an outgrowth of that labor of love.

While the timeline has many periods of inactivity, building this booth brought all of us together. We learned how to work with each other and with one or two exceptions (typically stemming from my own bad behavior) everyone just had fun.

Who am I?

Hi! I'm Robert. I'm a member of the Cult of Tom. The Cult of Tom Video Confessional Booth would not exist if it weren't for the many people who built it. You can learn about them in the Epilogue, but who starts at the end?
