The Sacraments

The Sacraments

The Christian Community is anchored in the spiritual world by the seven sacraments in a renewed form. Like an open door allowing the wind to blow into a house, the sacraments make it possible for the spirit of Christ to cross the threshold separating heaven and earth, illuminating and blessing the lives of human beings.

Baptism

Receives and blesses the child into the religious community, represented particularly by the godparents.

Confirmation

Takes place at the age of fourteen to strengthen and support a young person’s path into life.

Sacrament of Consultation

Is religious counseling regarding one’s life destiny. It supports the individual’s efforts to take responsibility for his or her life. (by request and confidential)

The Consecration of the Human Being

The Eucharist, the Sacrament of bread and wine, is the archetypal form of Christian worship. It is now called The Consecration of the Human Being and consists of four steps that reveal in visible form at the altar what happens as an invisible process in the spirit when we connect with the living Christ.

The Last Anointing

Gives an individual spiritual strength at the threshold between the world of earth and heaven. Along with the burial ritual, it takes place to help the dying to free themselves from the body and move into body-free spiritual life.

Sacrament of Ordination

The sacraments are performed by the priest through the power conferred by the Sacrament of Ordination. In The Christian Community both men and women can become priests.

Sacrament of marriage

Blesses the decision of a man and woman to share community of life, supported by two chosen witnesses.
