Altar of Doggie Kruger

Ah, Doggie. My first and most powerful furry character crush. What can be said about this divine creature? He is the commander of the Earth branch of the famed Special Police Dekaranger (SPD) task force, is the highly decorated Ranger God Dekamaster, and has a teasing (and disappointing) relationship with his co-worker Swan. He's also damn sexy, and is one of the main reasons why I like Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger so much. His history is more or less nothing special; he's a killer swordsman (so much so, that he formed a rivalry with his sensei's son, after the rebellious kid was passed over for ownership of the family dojo and secret sword technique for him), has a fair amount of respect from his superiors, and drives an SPD headquarters/giant fucking mecha of DOOM, all without having to get out of his chair.

Being such a successful Deka doesn't come cheap, though; he's made a LOT of enemies over the years, some of which had attempted to assassinate or discredit him. He deals with these Alienizers (as they are called in the series) personally, which is about the only time he actually suits up and joins his fellow Rangers out in the fold; he is very reluctant to go into battle, and believes his services as a Ranger should be left until there is no other choice. He even flat-out refused to lift a finger to come to his team's aid one time, immediately after he first suited up, because they tried relying solely on his power to get them out of jams instead of their own.

He has come dangerously close to death on a few occasions, but that's just part of the job for him. He's also come dangerously close to getting pulled into bed with Swan, but fortunately, that never happened, yet. It's clear he cares about her well-being, and she is dedicated to him enough that they both grow a tad jealous and insulted whenever someone attempts to steal her away from him. But, beyond meaningless tit-for-tat smoke-blowing, neither has consummated their relationship. Maybe it's because they both know that dating a fellow co-worker just won't work out, or that - if they try it - the bad guys could try targeting them through the other. Either way, this Doggie is single.

His Power Rangers SPD counterpart, however, is completely different. He is not well liked by his superiors or most of his own team (he even was deposed as SPD Earth Branch commander, in one episode), has a much more professional relationship with his co-worker Kat, and is MARRIED to a female of his own species. He is also supposedly the LAST of his species, the rest of his planet and people having been wiped out years before by the invading Troobian Empire. He also looks vaguely like a dog...well, more like a dog mixed with a trout, than anything. Scaly hide, black dreadlocks, and a more whiny voice (unlike the more mature voice of Deka Doggie) all make him rather unpopular in the furry fandom, though he does still has some followers. That, and he rarely, if EVER, gets naked on the show (again, unlike Deka Doggie, who seems to lose his uniform jacket and shirt almost every other episode), and the only time he DOES get naked, his bod's censored out by a glowing light (after tossing off his jacket when he morphs...and the glow envelops his ENTIRE body, which makes one wonder if he actually WEARS anything under it...), so his sex appeal's not that great. Oh, sure, the very basics of the character remain the same (turns into Dekamaster/Shadow Ranger, proficient with a sword, etc.), but again, nowhere near as cool or sexy as Deka Doggie.Naturally, for his gruff exterior and business-like demeanor, most furs depict him as being a wanton (or unwilling) sub to his superiors and immediate subordinates. Numa-O (his boss and Supreme Commander of the whole SPD shebang), the other Dekaranger males, and Gyoku Rou (the team's leonine former Red Ranger, now leader of the SPD Fire Squad) are often paired with him, though he does sometimes get mounted by his mechanical rival, Murphy (they don't get along, with the latter usually pissing oil on the former's foot as a display of dominance). He's also usually shown bound tight, like he's nothing more than a puppy-dog play toy for his 'partners' (which is ironic, since he IS usually treated like a pup by his comrades in the show, albeit a lot more affectionate and cutely with a bit less leather and chains). Whether he likes such roleplaying, or if it's just people's tendencies to tear down such powerful and macho characters a few pegs by forcing them into submission, who knows, but regardless of which position he's in in a dogpile, he always comes out looking like a damn sexy top breed.
