Recordings by Arleta
I was first introduced to the music of Arleta while living in Athens in 1972-73. After returning to the US, I continued buying her albums, mostly at a Greek imports shop in the Mission District of San Francisco. It was not until 1983 that I was able to return to Greece, on holiday with my husband. On our first day in Athens, we were strolling in Plaka when we saw a poster advertising an Arleta concert that night at a club called Skorpios (since closed). Of course we attended, and it was one of the highlights of our trip -- even though jet lag forced us to leave before the second set.
As far as I know, Arleta basically retired from recording after the release of Emporos Oneiron in 1995, and also no longer performs publicly. However, I have been told that she had (and possibly still does have) a club in Athens called Tsai sti Sahara, where she encouraged the careers of the new generation of singers.
Here is a partial discography of her recordings. "Partial" means that it includes recordings I know of; also, it does not include the many collections such as Neo Kyma on which she has just one or two songs.
Note: The question marks are gaps in my knowledge. If anyone reading this can supply any titles for missing years, I offer a heartfelt Thank You! (And if anyone knows where said titles can be obtained, that goes double.)
