SoulFood Poetry Party

Come celebrate the third anniversary of the SoulFood Poetry Night with a special party and performances of music and poetry. All past featured readers (that’s about 75 fine poets) and friends are invited to the SoulFood Poetry Party on Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., featuring Band of Poets and past featured poets!

If you’ve been a featured reader at SoulFood before, please bring some new work to read in the 3:00 o’clock hour. We’ll also have a few other activities to keep us busy, such as writing an exquisite corpse or two. An open-mic reading for everyone too!

Here’s our schedule for this fun-filled afternoon of socializing, poetry readings, and performances:

1:00 p.m. Welcome

1:15 p.m. Cake cutting and social time

2:00 p.m. Performance by Band of Poets (featuring John Burgess, Jed Myers, and David Rizzi)

2:50 p.m. Break

3:00 p.m. Poetry by past featured readers (Band of Poets will play along for those who want it)

4:00 p.m. Break

4:10 p.m. Open-mic for anyone

5:00 p.m. End

If you can attend, please RSVP to both Michael and Lana at lana.ayers@yahoo.com and welchm@aol.com (this will help us plan how many chairs to set up, how big to make the cake, and to help us schedule past featured readers). If you don’t RSVP, though, don’t let that stop you from coming!
