Tartu international meeting - autumn 2022

International meeting of SYStem (Share Your Soils) took place on the 2nd to 5th  of June 2022 (arrival/departure dates). Meeting activities on 3-4th June.

Agenda:

1. Discussion about progress on Omnibus preparation.  Visit isn EMU Soil Museum and evaluation of collected materials.

3. Evaluation of SYStem edutainment application – “Endla” Natural Reserve.

REPORTS Przemysław Charzyński led the discussion starting from the first point of the meeting agenda.

Marcin Świtoniak reported on the progress in the Omnibus preparation. The photos were selected, and new version of WRB was taken as the background for the Omnibus. Further tasks were distributed among the project partners. Also, the discussion about educational implications, a dissemination plan, and promotion strategies was continued. 

Przemysław Charzyński led the discussion on the current affairs.

a) Multiplier event was discussed, the venue, timetable and invitation of participants outside of project partner universities. Concerns were raised about the number of participants due to the war in Ukraine. 

b) Przemysław Charzyński asked all the project members about the state of the debit notes of the last meeting(s).

c) Last part of the discussion concerned the timetable of the events planned after the Torun workshop. Everyone agreed with the proposed dates and confirmed that are available at the moment for the Riga meeting in the early October.

Marcin Świtoniak introduced the last improvements to the SYStem application. New profile descriptions were needed to be uploaded to the application. An agreement was made that every partner would include at least five profile descriptions.

On the June 6-th Endla Nature Reserve was visited, and bog soils (Histosols) discussed and described in the middle part of Estonia. The soil on limestone (Leptosol) near Tallinn was described. SYStem application was used and evaluated, and Omnibus issues related to the above-mentioned soil groups were discussed.
