What is a bridge camera?

Bridge cameras are more advanced than compact `point-and-shoot` cameras and less technical than SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras. Like SLR`s bridge cameras feature manually adjustable controls but unlike SLRs they have a single fixed lens making them less expensive and less complicated.
