AN/PRS-1 Mine Detector

The AN/PRS-1 mine detector is a late WWII metalic and non-metalic mine detector. It used a 280 to 320 Mhz signal to detect non-uniformities in the ground. According to the technical manual, TM11-1151, it is meant to detect anti-tank mines buried less that three inches (7.5 cm) below ground.

Though it radiates a low power signal, the 280 to 320 Mhz is in the mobile phone frequency range (in the US). There may be enough power there to disrupt signals in the local area, and get the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) interested in you.

Don't try to run one, unless you have a way of measuring the RF output, and know it is within legal limits.

Watch for corrosion on the search tube, and for missing antenna.
