Intergroup Meetings
SA meeting groups within an area elect Group Service Representatives (GSRs) who come together to form an Intergroup. The general purpose of the Intergroup is to seek the knowledge of God's will for the fellowship and the power to carry out that will. It pursues goals that are too big for a single meeting group, such as the following:
Helping existing meetings to communicate with each other.
Helping to start new meetings.
Managing web sites and mailing lists.
Supporting days of recollection and other events.
Electing a Group Service Representative
Each groups sets their own requirements for a GSR, but experience has shown that it is good to elect GSRs who attend a meeting regularly and have been active in service for that meeting. GSRs also need time to meet with the Intergroup and a willingness to listen to other points of view. It is also helpful if the GSR understands the Twelve Traditions.
Group Service Representatives have the following duties:
Attend monthly Intergroup meetings
Keep informed of issues that affect the group, Intergroup, Region and SA International.
Communicate important information back to the home group.Â
Be willing, if asked, to serve as secretary, treasurer, communications chair, or regional liaison.
