I am an associate professor of political science at Northwestern University and faculty fellow at the Institute for Policy Research. My main fields of interest are the politics of Eastern Europe, the quality of democracy, the causes and consequences of formal institutions, and social policy reforms. I also write about popular culture in Eastern Europe and getting a better education.
