Teacher

In my second year of teaching, I learned from a student that her family history was deeply involved in white supremacy groups. At the end of the year, to my surprise, she thanked me for opening her mind to another side of the story. Little did that student know, but she taught me a lesson as well. She helped me understand the impact, both positive and negative, a teacher can have on their students.

West Hills High School was my home for 19 years. From my semester of student teaching in the fall of1996 until June 2015. At West Hills I taught American Government, US History, Sociology, and Global Studies.

During my career in the classroom, I was also an assistant coach for the girls soccer, class advisor, advisor of many clubs, organizer of Friday Soccer pick up games with staff and students, regular attendee of extra curricular events, official spotter for the announcer at football games, master teacher to seven student teachers, BTSA Support Provider, and WASC accreditation focus group leader.
