RAO students had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art and take in a diverse range of artistic enterprises. It was the first visit to MOCA for many of the students and they expressed amazement at the various paintings, sculptures and installation pieces they were able to view. In particular, several students marveled at large sculptures using a variety of materials - including clay, wood, leather, electrical lighting - that they could engage with closely. In general, MOCA exposed the students to new ways of understanding art and increased their appreciation for the range of ways artists choose to express themselves creatively. RAO co-facilitator Leslie Reese, a trained interdisciplinary artist, was able to offer interesting insights as well.
