Dr. A. Nayena Blankson

A. Nayena Blankson, Ph.D. is a presenter this year (2012). Her new biosketch:

Dr. Blankson was a former participant at a QTUG conference and subsequently has also been a presenter at several other QTUG conferences. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Spelman College, a historically Black women’s college. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in psychology and minor in mathematical sciences from Loyola College in Maryland, and earned her Ph.D. in quantitative psychology from the University of Southern California where she worked with the late Dr. John L. Horn, as well as Dr. Rand Wilcox. Dr. Blankson then served for two years as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in child development at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her quantitative interests include psychometrics, multivariate methods, moderated mediation, the design of psychological research, and structural equation modeling. Her substantive research interests include the organization and development of cognitive abilities as it relates to personality, parenting, and schooling. A current project involves the Atlanta Preschool Study where she is investigating the associations among fluid and crystallized intelligence, executive functions, and temperament in 4 year olds. Nayena has 10 publications, more than 30 research presentations, and more than $50,000 in funding. Her computer skills include Mx, Mplus, LISREL, SPSS, Minitab, S-PLUS, NORM, and Microsoft Office. Moreover, Dr. Blankson was just selected as a recipient of the Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award.
