SWG Recommendations

Note: Our initial key recommendations for implementing a regional stormwater monitoring program are posted below and more SWG recommendations are posted here. If you're looking for something in particular and cannot find it, please send an email to Amy Waterman. Thanks for your patience.

In 2010, the SWG delivered two final reports to the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Puget Sound Partnership. In the years since then, subsequent sets of formal recommendations for regional stormwater monitoring continue to be delivered.  The two 2010 reports detail our consensus recommendations for creating a regional stormwater monitoring and assessment program in Puget Sound, and for implementing priority components of that program through the NPDES municipal stormwater permits issued to cities and counties in the region. The additional recommendations are targeted to specific issues within or related to the monitoring program, including permit issuance and reissuance.

Recommendations for Municipal Stormwater Permit Monitoring

SWG has made many additional recommendations to Ecology for effectiveness studies, road and highway monitoring (including WSDOT permit monitoring requirements), and status and trends monitoring. Read a brief summary of the SWG's recommended model for pooling resources to conduct monitoring.
