Research
My research focus on phonetics and speech, and L2 language acquisition. I am becoming more and more interested in statistical methods for modelling linguistic phenomena, and my research adopts a data-focused approach spanning the following topics:
the acquisition of L2 English phonology (perception and production), incl. vis-Ă -vis other linguistic levels;
automatic assessment of L2 English pronunciation & tools for L2 pronunciation training and testing
the effects of orthography in the production, perception et phonological awareness of L2 English learners.
Additionally, I have also done work in other areas, such as:
gemination in varieties of Italian;
emotional speech and text-to-speech synthesis;
rhythmic typology of languages.
