See the forest grow

This is the 2006 airphoto, when we were still slashing much of the original kikuyu pasture and planting the initial cover (Acacia maidenii, A. irrorata, Commersonia fraseri). These kept winter frost and summer sun from damaging the seedling rainforest species brought in by birds from the neighbouring rainforest, (canopy in the left of the picture). Note the crowns of several cabbage palms on the extreme right, a remnant of the 19th century rainforest.
